I just got home yesterday from my four-day trip to Northern Wisconsin, specifically the Ashland to Bayfield area around Lake Superior. (My copy of "dust of summers," the 2007 Red Moon Anthology, made a wonderful travel companion!)
ojibwa blade
obsidian whirls
in tyler forks
summer evening
the fourth bride
on three-bridge trail
thirty feet
above copper falls--
soft wood
bitter coffee
in morning lake-light
the ferry's hum
lake superior downpour
the heat of lantern flame
beneath my hand
crowded wayside
two-ply toliet paper
becomes one-ply
just home
making mac 'n cheese
without the milk
